I am exhausted. I'm just finishing off my last essay - I've got a handful of articles left to read and then I've just got to tidy up at bit and then yay! All done. Well, bar the exams of course. :P

Oh, and I've just signed with a new agent down South. The women running it seems really nice. She willing talked me through the T&Cs too so I feel really comfortable being with this agency. Yay!

Hope everybody else is doing good - sorry for not replying on entries for ages. As the above probably indicates, it's been a bit hectic. Can't wait for June - I'll be getting a break then.

I was supposed to be going to the prize giving thingy for an essay competition I won today but it got called off at the last second. I'm kind of annoyed that this happened at such short notice - I doubt I would have known at all if I hadn't e-mailed in to ask if it was still happening. But, apparently, the people organising it didn't know it wasn't going to happen until quite late yesterday so there wasn't much they could do either. Le sigh! Such is life I guess.

Oh, and did another test shoot yesterday. Wasn't as much fun as the one on Sunday but only because my throat was really sore so could hardly make conversation with the photographer. I hope he didn't think I was being unpleasent - I was just in pain!! The photographer wanted to try out some new lighting so quite a lot of it was spent sitting around waiting for things to be set up but it was still great fun.

Hi all!

Just got back from my first test shoot in what seems like aggggeeees. Had a really great time. I did three sets- one quite casual, another a bit more formal and another one very arty- and touch wood I'm going to have some great photos. I was in a real panic that I wasn't going to get there on time, as my taxi was late getting to my flat and then took a wrong turn (cue four minutes of listening to annoying sat nav lady telling you to turn around at the next opportunity - WE KNOW AND YOU'RE NOT HELPING! RAWR!). Although I had cut myself some slack with my journey time, that took a pretty large chunk out of it but still managed to get there on time so phew!

The make-up and hair was really well put together and, considering that I really need a new headshot, that's excellent news for me. Fingers crossed all the pictures turn out ok.

However, the studio was FREEZING!! Appartently, there was a problem with the heating and it couldn't get any warmer than about 10c. That was ok once shooting started as the lights were quite hot. But during getting ready, the make-up artist was actually worried about me because I was shivering so much. Oh, and walking across the floor bare foot to change shoes was a nightmare - I still can't quite

Ok, so here's what I promised I would do last month and how I got along...
  • Get these nasty split ends in my hair sorted out  -Well, my hair at least now has a lot fewer split ends than it did at the start of the month
  • Make a start on my assessed essays - Essay titles have been delayed for one reason or another so, erm, I kind of don't have anything to start on!!
  • Sort out some of the junk in my flat that has been lying around since I moved in - Ok, so it's not perfect but the majority of my junk has been cleared away or given away.
  • Get the flat in at least a respectable state - This place still seriously needs a proper clean up
  • Work on correcting my posture- My posture is definitely a lot better than it was last month
  • Get my weight down to 120lb- Erm, yeah, about that....
  • Get my waist and hip measurements steadily down at 25 inches and 35 inches respectively (They kind of are at the moment but too many fizzy drinks and too large a lunch and those measurements go sky-high. I'd like to get it so that they will always be below or at 2/35 inches) - Well, I'm happy to report that my hips are 34.5 inches on a good day and 35 on a bad. But my waist still pushes 26 inches on a bad day so I have some work to do about that
  • Get my comp card and my portfolio sorted out - My portfolio is done and my comp card SHOULD BE getting sorted out as I type
  • Get my resume written up - It's not perfect but it's better than the nothing I had this time last month
  • Have a awesome V-Day and one year anniversary with my boyfriend :) - Yay-ness all round!!

  • Ok, so time to set some goals for March. To be completed by 1st April, touch wood:-

    • Get my nails in a respectable state
    • Make a start on my assessed essays
    • Make a start on exam revision
    • Get my flat in at least a respectable state
    • Get my weight down to 120lb
    • Get my waist measurement steadily down at 25 inches
    • Get my comp card sorted out
    • Shoot at least once this month

    Hi all.

Another entry, another website tip off. This time it's the tips and advice section at www.e-model.net.

I really quite like this page. There's a wide range of information on there- a much wider range than anything else I've seen. And I think all of it is transferable, no matter what type of model you are and what market you are working in. I really liked the break down of the international cities for modeling- I'd be really up for traveling in the future and, obviously, I don't want to waste my trip on a market where I'm just going to get laughed at!!

Oh, and in other news, my portfolio is finally done! Yay!

Yet another modelling advice website- check out www.modelingadvice.com

First of all, I have two downsides to report. The first is that updates seem few and far between so a lot of the information seems a little old and rusty in places. For example, on the news page, there's something like a 3 year gap between two comments. The second point is that it does seem a little hard to navigate from time to time.

But, other than that, this is a pretty good site. It seems to have a lot more technical information than any other site I've seen before. It gives you ideas on how to work around the lighting and how to work according to what sort of camera you're thrown in front of. It's got some great advice on portfolios and comp cards in particular. It takes a good look at both major markets, such as New York, and the smaller markets.

    Hi all!

Have just finished reading the tips page at Zerotpia

This is another one to read if you are an aspiring model. The glossary of terms pages in particular is good. Although the majority of the second section will only be relevant if you are shooting with this particular photographer yourself, there is still an abundance of tips in there that can be transferred for whatever you are doing. There's great advice for people who are working on mainly TFP or TFCD projects as it gives you some ideas on who to accept shoots with...and who to avoid.

Phew! Haven't updated here for a whole week. Long time no type.

Well, to be honest, I haven't really got a lot to say. I got essay title 1 of 3 so I'm well on the way with that. I've got until April to finish it so plenty of time but better get started before I forget and run out of time!

Had a great Valentine's Day with the boyfriend. Was really chilled out and relaxed- just how I wanted it to be. So yay!

In short, any aspiring model who hasn't already been to New Models really should. Ok, so not all of it will be relevant to everybody but there are still some really useful pieces of info on this site. Definitely worth at least a glance at if you haven't done so already.

Ok, so got my contact sheets today and have been going through them. Have found 9 photos that I think give me a god range (and that I really like) so am going to go with those. Woot! That will be my portfolio done after that and then comp card will follow soon afterwards. Phew! It took me well over 3 hours straight to go through these pictures and pick out the ones which seem to sell me the best. Let's hope I've made some good choices.

Ok, so that didn't go well.

Basically, I just had an interview with one of the law firms in the area for a vacation placement. It would be nice if I got this. Basically, it would cut me some slack financially if modelling doesn't go well this summer as well as give me oh-so-valuable legal experience. Before the interview, me and one of the other girl's who was there for an interview were talking and what did you write on the application form came up as a topic of conversation. She was talking about what she wrote for one question....and I completely blanked on what I wrote. Ironically, I could probably tell you what I wrote for the rest of the application (backwards and in German if you insisted!!) but this one question had me completely stuck. And, guess what, they asked me about that question in the interview!! And, then it hit me as to both why they were asking and why I couldn't remember....

....because my answer on the application form was some completely irrelevant nonsense. Yeah, that's going to get me the place!!

And you know THAT moment in an interview where they give you a look and you just KNOW they've written you off completely? Yeah, that happened too.

Unsmiley face day it is! I'm off to my boyfriend's for hugs.

I'm trying to write up a resume. I'm mainly aiming for modelling work and, as you may have guessed, this is the first time I've ever had to write something like this up so I'm more than a little bit stuck. I'm aiming to keep things short and sweet. I've seen some resumes where people just seem to have chucked everything on there and it just looks, well, messy! But, then again, I'm reasonably new at all this. I've done little things in the past so the problem is they are few and far between. Basically, I'm having a hard time find the balance between having next to nothing on there because I've only done a few "big" things and having a resume cluttered with every tiny little thing I've even thought about doing. Some input, please?

Ok, here's my first post in my new journal. Yay! Very excited.

Basically, I'm a second year student in one of the university's in the North of the UK. I've also just started modeling. I used to model a little bit before I came to university but it was nothing too big - I was more having a laugh than anything else. Recently, I was thinking that I had some spare time on my hands (my course keeps me busy but I've still got some gaps in my timetable!!) and I kind of started wondering if maybe I should think about modeling again. So, erm, yeah- here I am!
